Configure the main donation page settings including amounts, recurrences, and branding.
The General settings let you customize your form’s URL and the overall look and feel. This is also where you’ll configure the first page of your form.
To set up the general settings for your donation form,
Navigate to Campaigns, click the campaign name, then click Donation Form.
On the Form > General Settings page, configure the settings in the left panel.
Change the default Form Name to something meaningful for your organization. This is an internal title—donors won’t see this one—so give it a name that will help you remember what it is down the road.
Below the Form Name, click the Edit icon next to the URL. Customize the default slug for your campaign.
💡Best Practices
If a logo or colors have been saved in the Organization settings, these will automatically be used in your form.
To customize these elements for this form, uncheck the Use Organization Logo or Use Organization Color boxes.
💡 When selecting colors, make sure they are dark enough that the white text on the button can be easily read, and other colored elements appear clearly against the form background.
To see changes as you make adjustments to the form, click the Save Changes button at the bottom-right of your window.
Note: When you click save, your changes are published to the live form, so be careful if this form is already in use.
You can see what the form will look like on desktop as well as mobile using the buttons at the top of the Preview pane.
There are three payment frequency options: One Time, Monthly, and Yearly. One Time and Monthly will appear on all new forms, with the form showing the One Time option by default.
The Monthly and Yearly are recurring options and require that your organization has Stripe set up under Settings > Payments. Recurring options are not available for organizations that only have PayPal set up.
Use the Donation Frequency checkboxes to control which options appear on the form. You can change the default option that is selected when the form opens using the Set as Default radio buttons located to the right of the checkboxes.
Preset amounts guide donors' contributions. Lower values can make giving accessible to more people, and larger amounts encourage donors to be generous.
The Amounts that come pre-loaded in a new form can all be customized, and you can add up to nine values, or remove extras. These will arrange themselves on the form automatically.
Tooltip Text adds a little information when a donor hovers over an amount. Enter a few words to give donors a clear idea of what impact each dollar amount can have. You could indicate what kind of services could be funded, how many meals provided, what level of medical care, and so forth.
On the form, the field below the preset options shows the selected dollar amount, and it allows a donor to enter another dollar value. This is enabled by default, but you can check the Disable Custom Amount Field box to prevent users from entering their own amounts.
Comments are notes that donors can leave for your organization. They are enabled by default, but you can click the toggle to turn them off.
Your administrators can see the comments on the details page for each donation.
Designations allow your donors to choose to direct their donation to a particular fund, program, or part of your organization. This is enabled by default but won’t appear on your form until you enter at least one Designation Name.
Once you enter a Designation, the first option is always selected by default, so the best practice is to make the first option reflect the general purpose of the campaign.
For example, if your form was to raise money for books, the first option could be "Community Literacy Fund," followed by related or more general initiatives such as a general fund, capital campaign, a specific project, or a program with a partner organization.
This is the title that appears at the top of your donation form. It’s highlighted as a Danger Zone because any changes should be made very carefully.
💡 Best Practice
The default text has been shown to work well, but if you’re going to change it, make sure it clearly says that this is a donation. Avoid language that is not specific about the campaign, such as a basic greeting (i.e., “Happy New Year”).
When finished, click the Save Changes button.
